Product Descrpition: The reality you perceive mirrors your inner realm; the self you identify with mirrors the world you live in. By highlighting the blurry line between the two, we bring this special edition of BMT and encourage you to become a better observer of the world as well as a better listener of your heart.
The creation of MERCURY is inspired by our fascination with mercury mirrors, one of the earliest types of fine mirrors produced in the history of glassmaking. The technique was developed in Europe during the Renaissance, with Venice and Italy being major centers of production.
Mercury mirrors provided smooth, reflective, and less distorted surfaces superior to any other methods available at the time. Largely a historical curiosity now, genuine antique mercury mirrors are still highly sought after by collectors and interior designers.
Each card is designed as an image seen through a broken piece of mercury mirror, ergo its vintage expression. This also explains the interplay of lines and geometric patterns that segments the canvas into a mosaic. A special printing process is used for the first time to convey the author's message about connecting your innermost self with the external world, which are like two sides of a mirror.
The standard box design takes a more graphical approach to depicting the night's view through the church window (yellow outline). Purple and black are used to add mystique.
The standard card back design takes inspiration from European church dome design. Light emits from the octagram, a universal symbol of the journey between life and death as well as the wisdom we all possess.
